Jazeera Airways achieved a qualitative transformation during the first quarter of 2025, recording record quarterly profits of KWD 4.7 million. These results reflected a significant improvement in revenue and cost per unit compared to the same period last year, driven by the company's transformation efforts and its strict cost management policy.

 

The group's operating revenues increased 15.5% year-on-year to KWD 53.6 million, supported by a 7.7% increase in passenger traffic to 1.2 million passengers, as well as a 29.1% increase in ancillary revenues. Jazeera Airways was the largest carrier at Kuwait International Airport, capturing a 32.3% market share of passenger traffic.

 

Commenting on these results, Jazeera Airways Chairman, Marwan Boodai, said: “We are proud of these historic quarterly results for the first quarter, which reflect the success of the company’s five-year growth strategy. With the company’s investments in digital transformation and new revenue streams from support services, this strategy has started to yield tangible results. This is in addition to our ongoing commitment to reducing operating costs per unit, particularly with regard to aircraft and operations, which in turn strengthened Jazeera Airways’ ability to achieve sustainable profitability and excellence in the long term.”

  • Operating revenues: KWD 53.6 million, up 15.5% from Q1 2024
  • Operating profit: KWD 6.8 million, up 430.7% from the first quarter of 2024
  • Net profit: KWD 4.7 million, up 274.8% from the first quarter of 2024
  • Number of passengers: 1.2 million, up 7.7% from the first quarter of 2024
  • Additional revenues: KWD 5.1 million, up 29.1% from Q1 2024
  • Seat occupancy rate: 78.7%, down 0.6% compared to the first quarter of 2024

 

First quarter operational performance

 

Jazeera Airways reinstated flights to Sarajevo during the first quarter and expanded its network to include new destinations including Budapest (Hungary), Sochi (Russia), Yerevan (Armenia), and Hurghada (Egypt). The airline also launched innovative additional service packages, such as the Hayakom package, which provides personalized travel services at Jazeera Terminal 5, as well as flexible travel products such as Cancel for Any Reason (CAFR) and Disruption Assistance for Any Reason (DAFAR).

Jazeera Airways continues to focus on implementing its five-year strategy to improve operational efficiency, enhance customer experience, and achieve the lowest operating cost per unit. The airline is preparing for significant passenger traffic during the summer season, offering more than 700,000 seats, in addition to preparing for the Hajj season, while continuing to invest in digital innovation to enhance the passenger experience.

 

As part of its digital transformation strategy, Jazeera Airways successfully upgraded its passenger service system to the latest, improved version and launched the first phase of its new customer experience and passenger feedback platform.

 

To lead the next phase of the airline's growth, Jazeera Airways recently announced the appointment of new executive management talent, including Captain Ayman Al Shammari as Chief Operating Officer, Jenny Sethi as Chief Human Resources Officer, and Paul Carroll as Chief Commercial Officer.

 

Work continues to optimize the internal fleet structure, with the transition to 180-seat aircraft scheduled for the fourth quarter of the year. Jazeera Airways is also awaiting the delivery of 26 new aircraft, including 18 A320neo and 8 A321neo aircraft, scheduled for delivery starting in 2026. This will enable the airline to expand its operations, enter new markets, and accelerate its commercial and digital strategy. To support the growing passenger traffic, expansion improvements are currently underway at Jazeera Terminal 5.
